A border island of tranquillity and quality gastronomy. St. Peter Vini Restaurant and Inn.

One of the hidden gastronomic gems of the Felvidék is located in the charming village of Komáromszentpéter, just 15 kilometres northeast of Komárom, Slovakia. The St. Peter Vini winery-restaurant-hostel invites you to a journey through time where refined elegance, peace, tranquillity, delicious food and good wine await you.

Winner of the Travel Magazine’s Restaurant of the Year in the Felvidék in 2023 and the Accommodation of the Year in the Felvidék in 2024, St. Peter Vini was born in a special place in every respect just a decade ago. Komáromszentpéter is a historic wine-growing village near the border, where grape growing has been recorded since 1750. It’s no coincidence that St. Peter Vini has 6 hectares of vineyards, its own winery and an impressive wine cellar reminiscent of the Szekszárd wine region.

The elegance of the building, which is reminiscent of the cosy atmosphere of the mansions of the last century, is combined with the tranquillity of its surroundings. While the hillside guest house offers stunning views of the surrounding countryside, a little further away grey bears and other animals, especially interesting for children, complete the agrotourism experience.

The building has a bourgeois atmosphere, with elegant furnishings that recall the old days. The farm-to-table philosophy of St. Peter Vini’s restaurant makes real sense, where the pork and mangalica are sourced from local suppliers, while the lamb and goat goat to be grilled are home-bred, as are the pigs raised for the pork dishes. In addition, thanks to close links with local producers, organic vegetables are an integral part of the gastronomic concept.

Just as importantly, the restaurant combines the culinary traditions of the region with new gastronomic trends, combining traditional Hungarian dishes with Slovak favourites such as dumplings and flatbread-like loksa. The wine selection at St. Peter Vini is no less high quality than the food. The wines, made from their own harvest, are aged in oak barrels housed in historically atmospheric brick cellars behind unique, handcrafted wrought iron doors. From here, the restaurant offers Italian Riesling, Rhenish Riesling, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Irsai Olivier and Merlot, all of which are made with the help of the best winemakers. That’s why a visit to the cellar in the domed room, where weddings and other celebrations often take place alongside wine tastings, is a special experience.

Autumn and winter are also a special time at St. Peter Vini, as from the end of September, the iconic autumn and winter menus are gradually introduced, starting with duck and goose dishes. This is followed by game dishes, and in December, after the festive feasts, the traditional pig’s dinner dishes are added.
The fact that St. Peter Vini is a real guest experience is not only due to the excellent cuisine and quality wines, but also to the fact that, in addition to the pleasant culinary experience, the cosy rooms of the guesthouse are a special attraction for individual guests and corporate events. Those who choose to explore the picturesque surroundings, hiking or cycling should also take time to explore the area, visiting for example the Komárom fortress or the nearby thermal baths of Naszvad for a refreshing experience.
